  • Can you ride alpacas?
No, they are not for riding, they will carry your belongings and you can lead them with a head collar and lead rope, but they will not carry you.
  • Can i turn up without booking?
NO, we are a family run working farm therefore anyone arriving on site must be booked in prior to arrival.
  • Which days do you trek?
This totally depends on demand, we run a trek every Sunday. If the demand is high we will run mid week treks too.
  • When do i pay for my trek?
We ask for FULL Payment when booking your trek, no trek will be booked in if payment hasn't been recieved, we do NOT handle cash either. All payments via BACS or Card.
  • Can my child under 5 attend?
Unfortunatley not, we do not run a 'petting farm' at the moment, we are strictly treks and you must be 7+ to walk an alpaca. Children aged 5-7yrs will be offered to walk our pet sheep Lavender.
  • What is the maximum number of people per trek?
We don't have a maximum number, we treat groups on an individual 'group' booking basis, so please enquire with us.
  • Can i bring someone with me that isn't going to trek?
Sadly, it's a no! Our animals work on a 1 to 1 basis meaning 1 adult to 1 alpaca therefore we do NOT allow extra's to walk along side.
  • Can i bring my dog on the trek?
This is a big no! Alpaca's are pack animals and their natural instinct is to scare the dogs off. Alpacas and dogs should not mix.
  • What footwear/clothing should i wear?
When coming on your alpaca trek please dress appropriately for the weather, it is often a lot colder here at Buckstone Alpacas so you always need an extra layer, wellingtons, walking boots, or strong trainers are highly recommended! In the winter months i strongly recommend lot's of layers, thick socks, waterproofs & wellies!
  • Can i access the farm via public transport?
I'm afraid not, the closest village you can reach is Sutton in Craven, however we are situated about 2 miles out of the village so you would then need a taxi or car to reach us.
  • I would like to organise a special occasion trek, would this be possible?"
Yes! If you let us know what occasion you would like to celebrate, birthday, anniversary, Hen party, Stag party or anything you wish! Just get in touch and we can discuss your specific requirements.
  • Do you have a cafe on site?
No, but you are very welcome to bring your own refreshments, hopefully this is something we can grow to have.
  • Are you open all year round?
Yes, we open all year around apart from Christmas Day & Boxing Day!
  • I want to buy a trek for a friend/family member, but i'm not sure when they can come? "
You can purchase a gift voucher, These are valid for 12months so the receiver can then decide when they would like to use the voucher and book their trek.
  • Can wheelchair users trek?
Please contact us to discuss this as it will depend on the person using the wheelchair and their disability. The ground is uneven on the farm and the treks go across very uneven ground so we would need to discuss suitability on an individuals needs.

We are a private farm & not open daily, please pre-book your visit.
This is our home and all activities must be booked in advance.
